FAQ

Q. How do I register for MWSL?
     A. Players must be on a team before they can register. On the web site is a bulletin board where
teams post when they are looking for players. You can also post there that you are looking for a
team. Once you have found a team the coach/manager will advise on how to register.

Q. How do I get a player card and complete my registration?

A. The office hours are listed on the website. You must bring your last seasons players card, your
online registration confirmation and cheque or cash for the amount owing. If you are new to the
MWSL then you will need a 1 by 1 inch cut out picture of your face, it is for an ID card so no
hats or sunglasses, your online confirmation, id (or if someone else is getting your card a copy of
photo id) and cheque or cash. Your card will be made up while you are there. You can also mail in
your info but there is a minimum 10 day turnaround and we need the required info as above and you
must include where to send the card back to.

Q. I have heard there is a minimum age that a player must be before they can register on a team in the MWSL. Is that correct and what is the minimum age?
     A. Yes that is correct. The minimum age that a player must be is 17 by December 31 of the current
season. Any player that will not be 17 until after that date will have to wait until the Spring Season
to play in the League. The reason for this is that players who are under the age of 18 at December
31 can play Youth soccer and are encouraged to do so. The MWSL is for adult players 18 years and
     over.

Q. The transfer deadline is January 15, 2011. Can I still sign new players?
     A. Yes you can. Teams can sign new players, that is players who have not signed with any team this
Season, which runs from September 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011. Players can be signed 1 day before a
league game and 1 week before a Cup game.

Q. Our team is not having a good season and we have been knocked out of Cup and many of our players do not want to play any more games. Do we have to play our remaining League games?
     A. Yes you do. All teams that register to play must complete their league games even if it means
there may be a break of several weeks between their last cup game and their next league game.
Teams that fail to meet their committment to complete their league games will be subject to
     sanctions from the League's Directors.

Q. When and where is the final for the League's Divisional Cup?
     A. The final is on the last Sunday in March at South Surrey Athletic Park. The park is on 20th Street at
148th Avenue in south Surrey. It is in the same complex as Softball City. The schedule of games will
be on the webpage 1 week before the Finals.

Q. When does the Summer 2011 start and finish?
    A. The 2nd season the MWSL runs has been renamed the Spring season as it is mainly played in the
Spring. Spring 2011 will start on Monday, May 2nd and finishes on Thursday June 30th. There are no
games scheduled on the Victoria Day long weekend. There are no weekend games.

Q. If a game does not go the full 90 minutes what constitutes a completed game? That is the game is abandoned by the referee.
    A. If 60 minutes of the game or more has been played when the game is abandoned by the referee,
the score at that time shall be the final score of the game. The exception would be when actions by
the team that was leading or in a tie, caused the game to be abandoned. In that situation the team
that did not cause the game to be abandoned could appeal for the game to be replayed.
